Theater and video games are two media that have been compared and studied together since the beginning of game studies. Understanding other media can not only enrich the analysis of video games, considering their ability to integrate and reinterpret various formats, but also enhance the creation of video games by incorporating ideas and concepts originating in other artistic disciplines. In this text, we review the work of authors who have explored the relationship between theater and ludonarrative, addressing perspectives ranging from performance to the practical application of theatrical techniques in simulation. This analysis is applied to the case study of Pathologic 2 (Ice-Pick Lodge, 2019), a title deeply inspired by dramatic sources and that remarkably takes advantage of the performative capabilities of the video game.
